Product details
Tinuvin® 292 by BASF is a remarkable liquid hindered amine light stabilizer especially developed for coatings. Here is its detailed introduction:
Chemical Composition and Physical Properties:
Chemical Structure: It is a bis(1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl) sebacate.
Appearance: It appears as a light yellow liquid.
Physical Parameters: It has a density ranging from 0.97 to 1.01 g/cm³ at 20°C, a flash point of 202-206°C, and a dynamic viscosity of 400 mPa·s at 20°C.
Performance Features:
Superior Durability: It provides significantly extended lifetime to coatings by minimizing paint defects such as cracking, reduction, blistering, delamination, and loss of gloss. It can effectively protect the coatings from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light and other environmental factors, ensuring the long-term stability and performance of the coatings.
Versatility: It shows excellent performance in both water-based and solvent-based coatings, making it suitable for a wide range of coating systems.
Good Compatibility: It is compatible with a variety of coatings systems, including one- and two-component polyurethanes (water and solvent), phenolics, vinylics, thermoplastic acrylics, thermosetting acrylics, alkyds, and polyesters.
Application Areas:
Automotive Coatings: Widely used in automotive OEM and refinish coatings to enhance the durability and weather resistance of the vehicle's paint finish.
Industrial Coatings: Applied in industrial topcoats, coil coatings, and radiation-curable coatings, providing excellent protection for industrial products in various environments.
Construction Coatings: Used in exterior construction coatings to protect buildings from the deterioration caused by sunlight and weather.
Wood Coatings: Suitable for wood stains and clear coats, protecting wood from UV damage and maintaining its appearance.
Other Applications: It can also be used in adhesives and sealants to improve their UV resistance and durability.
It should be noted that when using Tinuvin® 292, the appropriate dosage should be determined through testing according to specific application requirements and coating systems to ensure the best performance of the product.
