Product details
Tinuvin® 770 DF (ED) by BASF is a highly effective light stabilizer with the following characteristics:
Chemical Composition and Structure:
It is bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl) sebacate.
The chemical structure gives it unique properties to act as a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS).
Physical Properties:
Appearance: It appears as white to slightly yellow crystalline granules.
Melting Point: The melting point is in the range of 81 - 85 °C.
Density: It has a density of 1.05 g/cm³ at 20 °C.
Solubility: It is soluble in various organic solvents such as acetone (19% by weight at 20°C), benzene (46%), chloroform (45%), ethyl acetate (24%), methylene chloride (56%), etc., but has limited solubility in hexane (5%) and methanol (38%).
Performance Features:
Outstanding Light Stability: It provides excellent light stability for a wide range of polymers and plastics. It can effectively protect materials from the degradation caused by ultraviolet light, thereby prolonging the service life of the products.
Good Thermal Stability: It shows good thermal stability, which allows it to maintain its performance even under high-temperature processing or in environments with elevated temperatures.
Compatibility: It has good compatibility with various polymers and resins, making it easy to be incorporated into different formulations.
Thickness Independence: Unlike some other light stabilizers, the efficacy of Tinuvin® 770 DF (ED) is not affected by the thickness of the plastic, making it suitable for both thick and thin plastic products such as films, tapes, and thick molded parts.
Application Areas:
Plastics Industry: Widely used in polypropylene, high-density polyethylene, EPDM, polystyrene, high-impact polystyrene, ABS, SAN, ASA, and polyurethane. It is also effective in polyamides and polyacetals.
Coatings and Adhesives: Can be applied in coating and adhesive formulations to enhance the light stability and durability of the final products.
Dosage and Usage: The recommended concentration of Tinuvin® 770 DF (ED) typically ranges between 0.1 - 1.0% depending on the substrate, processing conditions, and specific application requirements.
