Tinuvin® 400 is a liquid hydroxyphenyl triazine (HPT) ultraviolet absorber produced by BASF. Here are some of its main features and related information:
Physical characteristics:
The appearance is a viscous light yellow liquid;
At 20 ℃, the density is 1.07g/cm ³;
The melting point is about 25 ℃;
Easy to dissolve in most organic solvents, but essentially insoluble in water.
Performance advantages:
High stability: It has excellent thermal stability and environmental durability, and can maintain stability under high temperature baking and harsh conditions. It is suitable for coatings that are exposed to harsh environments for a long time.
Low mobility: The migration effect is low and can be maintained in the coating system for a long time, exerting stable UV absorption and ensuring the long-lasting protective performance of the coating.
Efficient light absorption: It has a high absorption rate in the UV-B region of ultraviolet radiation, good light stability, and can effectively prevent coating aging, degradation, and other problems caused by ultraviolet radiation, extending the service life of the coating.
Light color: The color itself is light and will not have a significant impact on the color of the coating, especially suitable for transparent coatings or light colored coatings with high color requirements.
Good compatibility: It has good compatibility with other components of various coating systems and has minimal impact on metal catalysts and amine crosslinkers. It can be used in coating systems that are cured by amine or metal catalysis.
Application areas:
Widely used in automotive OEM coatings and repair paints, solvent based industrial coatings, coil steel coatings, UV curable coatings, and other fields.
Usage suggestion:
The recommended addition amount is 1.0-3.0% relative to the solid content of the resin. If used in combination with hindered amine light stabilizers such as Tinuvin 123 or 292, the efficiency can be further improved. The recommended addition amount is 0.5-2.0%, and the specific effect and dosage need to be determined through experiments.
