As an organic synthesis intermediate: Epoxy reactive diluent molecules contain both carbon-carbon double bonds and epoxy bonds and are important polymerization monomers and organic synthesis intermediates.
Application in the field of coatings:
Epoxy-reactive diluents can dissolve or disperse film-forming substances, participate in the film-forming reaction during the film-forming process of the coating, form non-volatile components, and remain in the coating film. It is mainly used in high-solid and solvent-free coating systems, such as glycidol for solvent-free epoxy paint, terminal di (or tri, tetra) acrylates for light-curing coatings, and high hydroxyl polyesters and polyethers for high-solid coatings.
Some specific epoxy reactive diluents, such as HK-AGE, have many excellent properties such as light color, low odor, low toxicity, good fluidity, low surface tension, and good color paste dispersion effect. They are suitable for high-quality epoxy floor coatings, food-grade epoxy coatings, etc.
Application in the adhesive field: In the process of diluting adhesive, epoxy reactive diluent can participate in the reaction at the same time. Its molecule contains active groups, which can react with the curing agent of adhesive without gas escape, and generally does not affect the performance of the adhesive layer after curing. It is mostly used in epoxy resin adhesives, and the main varieties are monoepoxy propylene glycidyl ether, phenyl glycidyl ether, diepoxy ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether, resorcinol diglycidyl ether, etc.
Other application fields: Epoxy reactive diluent can also be used in electronics, daily chemicals, papermaking, textiles, aerospace, and other fields as raw materials or additives for composite materials, curing agents, electronic components, etc. In addition, it can also be used as elastomers, glass fiber surface residual fillers, scale inhibitors, unsaturated polyester air-drying agents, and silicone intermediates.
