Here are some of its main uses:
Anticorrosion coating: Cardanol contains unsaturated double bonds and phenolic hydroxyl groups, which give it good reactivity. It can form a dense protective film on the metal surface, effectively preventing oxygen, moisture and corrosive ions from corroding the metal, thereby extending the service life of the metal structure. It is widely used in anticorrosion fields such as ships, bridges, and oil pipelines.

Enhance the performance of thermosetting resin-based composite materials: Cardanol can be used to modify thermosetting resins to prepare high-performance composite materials. When preparing fiber-reinforced composite materials, introducing cardanol into the resin matrix can improve the interfacial compatibility between the resin matrix and the fiber and enhance the bonding force between the fiber and the matrix. This helps to better transfer stress, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the composite material, such as tensile strength, flexural strength and impact toughness, and can be used in the manufacture of high-performance parts in the fields of aerospace, automotive industry, etc.

Production of high-performance brake pads and clutch plates: Cardanol can be used as a binder and modifier for friction materials. In the manufacturing process of brake pads and clutch plates, cardanol can be well combined with other fiber materials (such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, etc.) and friction performance modifiers (such as metal sulfides, graphite, etc.) to form friction materials with stable friction coefficients, good wear resistance and anti-fading properties. This friction material plays a key role in the automotive braking system and transmission system, ensuring the safety and reliability of the vehicle during braking and shifting.
