Product details
Irgafos® 126 by BASF is an important organic phosphite processing stabilizer. Here is its detailed introduction in English:
Chemical composition and structure:
Chemical name: Bis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite.
CAS number: 26741-53-7.
Molecular formula: C33H54O8P2.
Molecular weight: 604 g/mol.
Physical properties:
Appearance: It is a white powder.
Melting point: ≥ 160 °C.
Solubility: Soluble in most organic solvents, but insoluble in water.
Performance features:
Outstanding processing stability: It can effectively protect polymers from thermal oxidative degradation during the processing stage, reducing the occurrence of quality problems such as polymer degradation, chain scission, and crosslinking.
Good color protection: Can prevent the color change of polymers caused by degradation, helping to maintain the original color and appearance of the polymer products.
Low addition amount and high efficiency: Even at a low addition level, it can exhibit excellent performance, which is beneficial for reducing production costs while ensuring product quality.
Synergistic effect: Has a good synergistic effect when used in combination with the main antioxidants from the Irganox® series. This combination can enhance the overall antioxidant performance of the polymer material, providing better protection.
Compatibility: It shows good compatibility with a variety of polymers, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), polystyrene (PS), and polyurethane (PUR), etc., making it widely applicable in different polymer systems.
Applications:
Widely used in the processing of various polymers such as PE, PP, EVA, PUR, PS, ABS, and their engineering plastics to improve the processing stability and product quality.
Can also be used in combination with other additives such as light stabilizers from the Tinuvin® and Chimassorb® series to provide comprehensive protection for polymer materials under different environmental conditions.
Usage and dosage:
The typical concentration of Irgafos® 126 is between 0.05% and 0.15%. However, the specific addition amount should be determined according to the type of substrate, processing conditions, and performance requirements.
