Product details
Irganox® 1135 by BASF is a highly effective antioxidant product. Here is its detailed introduction in English:
Chemical composition and properties:
Chemical name: Benzenepropanoic acid, 3,5-bis(1,1-dimethyl-ethyl)-4-hydroxy-C7-C9 branched alkyl esters.
CAS number: 125643-61-0.
Molecular weight: 390 g/mol.
Appearance: It is a colorless to light yellow liquid.
Melting point: Less than -6 °C (typically).
Flash point: 152 °C.
Viscosity (25 °C): 200-500 mPa·s.
Density (20 °C): Approximately 0.96 g/cm³.
Refractive index (20 °C): 1.493 - 1.499.
Performance features:
High antioxidant activity: As a sterically hindered phenolic primary antioxidant, it has strong antioxidant ability to effectively prevent the oxidation of polymers.
Low volatility: Ensures its long-term effectiveness within the material system with relatively low volatility.
Excellent compatibility: It shows excellent compatibility with various polymers such as polyols, polyurethanes, and other polymer materials.
Good emulsifiability: Facilitates its application in different processing methods as it is easy to emulsify.
Applications:
Polyurethane industry: Widely used in polyurethane, including flexible slabstock foams. It can prevent the formation of peroxides in the polyol during storage and transport, and also protect against scorching during foaming. It is particularly suitable for the forced air cooling process of polyurethane.
Other polymers: Applied to various other polymers such as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polyvinyl butyral (PVB) to enhance their oxidation resistance.
Adhesives and sealants: Used in adhesive and sealant formulations to improve their stability and durability.
Usage and dosage: The recommended usage level of Irganox® 1135 is typically between 0.15% and 0.5%. It can be added by pumping or injecting for convenient use and effective mixing. And it shows better effects when used in combination with other phenolic antioxidants, substituted aromatic amines (such as Irganox 5057), or synergistic stabilizers (such as phosphites, phosphonites, thioethers, hydroxylamines, lactones), and light stabilizers (such as ultraviolet absorbers and hindered amines).
