Product details
Irganox® 1035 by BASF is a sulfur-containing, primary (phenolic) antioxidant and heat stabilizer. Here is its detailed introduction:
Chemical composition: Its chemical name is thiodiethylene bis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate) and its CAS number is 41484-35-9. The molecular weight is 642.93.
Physical properties: It appears as a white crystalline powder. It is soluble in methanol and acetone, slightly soluble in chloroform and ethyl acetate, and insoluble in water. The melting point is 63-67 °C, the flash point is 279 °C, and the specific gravity is 1.0 g/ml.
Performance advantages:
Excellent processing stability: It provides efficient processing stabilization for various polymers, ensuring the stability of materials during processing.
Good long-term thermal stability: Offers long-term thermal stability to the materials, protecting them from thermal degradation over an extended period.
Low color impact: Has a low color impact, minimizing the color change or discoloration of the materials.
Good heat stability and low exudation tendency: Exhibits excellent heat stability and is very unlikely to exude, maintaining its effectiveness within the material.
Prevents scorching in flexible foams: In combination with an aminic antioxidant, it can prevent scorching of polyurethane flexible foams.
Application fields:
Polymers: Widely used in polyolefins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polybutene, as well as in other polymers like styrene homo- and co-polymers, linear polyesters, PVC, polyamides, and polyurethanes.
Elastomers and rubbers: Compatible with elastomers such as SBS, EPR, EPDM, and other synthetic rubbers.
Adhesives: Used in hot melt adhesives.
Wire and cable materials: As one of the most widely used antioxidants in PE and XPE wire and cable materials, it can improve the processing stability and long-term stability of the materials and eliminate the impact of tiny pollutants on the insulation performance of cables.
In many countries, Irganox® 1035 is approved for use in food contact applications.
