Irganox® 245 is a sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant offered by BASF. Here is the English introduction of this product:
Function and purpose: It protects organic substrates against thermo-oxidative degradation during manufacturing, processing, and end use. It can prevent the thermal oxidation degradation of materials, ensuring the stability and quality of materials in various stages of production and use.
Product highlights:
High extraction resistance: It has a high resistance to extraction, which means it can maintain its antioxidant effect in the material for a long time and is not easily extracted by external factors.
Low volatility: The product has low volatility, which can ensure its stability in the application process and reduce the loss of the additive.
Odorless: It is odorless, which will not cause unpleasant odors in the application process, making it more suitable for use in various products that require good odor characteristics.
Good color stability: It has good color stability, which can prevent the material from changing color due to oxidation, ensuring the color consistency of the product.
Suggested applications: This antioxidant is effective in styrene polymers, particularly in impact-modified polystyrenes, ABS, MBS, SB, and SBR lattices, as well as in POM homo- and co-polymers. It is also very useful for the stabilization of polyurethanes, polyamides, thermoplastic polyesters, PVC, and other polymers. In addition to imparting thermostability to the finished polymer, it is effective as a chain stopper during PVC polymerization.
Physical and chemical properties: It appears as a white free-flowing powder. The chemical name is ethylene-bis(oxyethylene)-bis(3-(5-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-m-tolyl)propionate), and the molecular weight is 586.8 g/mol. The melting point is 76-79 °C, and the density at 20 °C is 1.14 g/ml. It is soluble in most organic solvents but insoluble in water.
