Tinuvin® 5248 by BASF is a high-performance liquid light stabilizer blend with the following characteristics and features:
Composition: It contains a triazine-based UV absorber and a basic hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS).
Performance Highlights:
High Thermal Stability and Photo Permanence: It offers excellent thermal stability and long-lasting protection against the harmful effects of ultraviolet light, ensuring the durability and performance of the treated materials even under high-temperature and long-term exposure conditions.
Metal Ion and Amine Resistance: The UV absorber in Tinuvin® 5248 is not sensitive to metal ions and amines and does not form colored complexes in their presence, maintaining the clarity and color stability of the coatings.
Superior Coating Protection: The synergistic combination of the UV absorber and HALS imparts superior protection to coatings against issues such as gloss reduction, cracking, blistering, delamination, or color change, providing full substrate protection.
Applications:
It is designed to meet the high-performance and durability requirements of exterior solvent-based automotive, industrial, architectural, and decorative coatings, including energy curable systems (UV, electron beam).
It is especially suitable for clear coatings with a layer thickness from 40 – 80 µm and low pigmented coatings exposed to high baking temperatures and/or extreme environmental conditions.
