Chimassorb® 2020 FDL (ED) by BASF is a high-performance light stabilizer with the following characteristics:

Chemical Nature:

It is a high molecular weight block oligomeric hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS).

This chemical structure endows it with excellent ability to capture free radicals, providing effective protection for polymers against the harmful effects of light.

Physical Properties:

Appearance: Transparent, light yellowish granules.

Melting Range: 120 – 150 °C.

Specific Gravity (20 °C): 1.01 g/cm3.

Vapor Pressure (20 °C): 7 e-10 Pa (extrapolated).
 

Performance Features:

Outstanding Compatibility: Shows excellent compatibility in polymers, ensuring uniform dispersion and stable performance in the polymer matrix.

High Resistance to Extraction: Has high resistance to extraction, which means it can maintain its effectiveness in the polymer for a long time even under various processing and usage conditions.

Superior Light and Thermal Stability: Combines very high light stability and long-term thermal stability. It provides excellent UV stability to PP fibers, PP tapes, PE films, and thick articles of PP and PE. It also imparts unique long-term thermal protection to PP filled articles and carbon black filled systems.

Improved Ancillary Properties: Along with its excellent light and thermal stability, it also offers improved ancillary properties such as minimal pigment interaction and improved control of melt flow rate, which can enhance the processing performance of polymers.
 

Application Areas:

It is highly effective in polyolefins (PP, PE), olefin copolymers such as EVA, as well as blends of polypropylene with elastomers.

In addition, it can also be used in certain applications of polyacetals, polyamides, polyurethanes, flexible and rigid PVC, PVC blends, certain styrenic elastomers, and specialty adhesive applications.
