Product details
Tinuvin ® 928 is BASF's ultraviolet absorber. A slightly yellow crystalline powder with high UV absorption capacity, good thermal stability, environmental durability, and good compatibility with materials. Widely used in fields such as coatings and plastics. Dual structure of UV absorber and light stabilizer. Suggest adjusting the dosage according to different systems to provide efficient light protection for materials, improve product weather resistance and service life.
Tinuvin ® 928 is a benzotriazole based ultraviolet absorber developed and produced by BASF. The following is its related information:
Basic attributes:
Chemical name: 2- (2H-Benzotriazol-2-yl) -6- (1-methyl-1-phenylethyl) -4- (1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) phenol.
CAS number: 73936-91-1.
Appearance: Slightly yellow crystalline powder.
Molecular weight: 441.6 g/mol.
Melting point: 109-113 ° C.
Solubility: soluble in most organic solvents, insoluble in water.
Performance characteristics:
Efficient UV absorption capability: With a wide range of UV absorption, it can effectively absorb UV rays, prevent coatings and other photosensitive materials from aging and degrading due to UV irradiation, and provide efficient light protection for materials.
Good thermal stability and environmental durability: It can maintain stable performance even under high temperature curing process or high environmental stress conditions, especially suitable for systems that require high temperature curing such as powder coatings and coil steel coatings.
Good compatibility with materials: It has good oil solubility and good compatibility with polymer matrix. When added to the material, it will not have adverse effects on the properties of the polymer matrix itself.
Dual structure of UV absorber and light stabilizer: In some cases, no additional light stabilizer needs to be added when used, which can solve the problem of some materials not being able to add light stabilizers.
Application areas:
Coatings industry: widely used in high-performance coatings such as automotive paint, coil coatings, powder coatings, etc., it can prevent coatings from experiencing problems such as reduced gloss, cracking, blistering, delamination, and color changes when exposed to sunlight for a long time.
Plastic industry: It can be used in plastic materials that require high light stability to enhance the UV resistance of plastics and extend the service life of plastic products.
Usage suggestion:
The recommended addition amount of Tinuvin in powder coatings is 1-3% ® 928, combined with 0.5-2% Tinuvin 144 or Tinuvin 111FD, etc; The recommended addition amount of Tinuvin in liquid coatings is 1-3% ® 928, combined with 0.5-2% Tinuvin 292 or Tinuvin 123, etc. However, the specific dosage should be based on the actual experimental results.
